FAQs

What is the difference between jam and jelly?

Jam is made with mashed fruit. There are sometimes whole bits of fruit in jam. Jelly is made with fruit juice and has a clearer, firmer consistency.

What’s so great about Windtree Bee’s jelly?

Lower sugar than a traditional jelly + no high fructose corn syrup. There are often only three ingredients in my jellies – fruit juice, sugar & pectin.

What is marmalade?

Although the term may originally have had a narrower definition, I use the term to mean a jam made with citrus fruits. There may or may not be large pieces of rind in it.

What’s the difference between preserves and conserves?

Preserves are whole fruits that are canned to preserve them and make them shelf stable. Conserves are kind of a mix between preserves and jam. They’re made with dried fruits and nuts (sometimes raisins and/or coconut). They have a chunky texture and are a great addition to a cheese board or charcuterie tray.

What’s in your dog treats?

Organic rye flour, organic eggs, organic peanut butter, buckwheat honey, soybean oil, and baking powder. (When I make dog treats during the market season, I often use our wildflower honey, but we sold out, so for winter, I’ll use buckwheat honey. Dogs love both!)

Does your dog eat these treats?

Yes! Tugg loves them. 🙂

Do you ship?

No. I can’t ship anything anywhere. It’s cost prohibitive and I sell under Maryland’s Cottage Food Laws, so I can only sell direct from my house or at Maryland farm markets, festivals, pop up shops, and the like.
